Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility means managing our firm responsibly for long term success so that we can fulfil our responsibilities to the community in which we operate. The Partners and staff at Heald Solicitors are committed to supporting charitable causes, both national and local, through fundraising and volunteering.
We also aim to minimise the environmental impact of our business, by reducing our overall energy consumption, minimising wastage and increasing our recycling capacity.
At Heald Solicitors, as far as charity and community projects go, we like to put our money where our mouth is. Or as is often the case, our feet.
One of the issues we feel strongly about is cancer research, as 1 in 2 of us will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during our lifetime. That includes us, and the fact that some of us are still here today shows that cancer research does work. We want to make sure as many people as possible who get that devastating cancer diagnosis survive it.
For the last few years, we have taken part in ‘The Climb of Life’. A usually cold, wet, challenging walk and climb up and down some of the mountains and fells in the Lake District to raise funds for the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). We feel it also symbolises the ups and downs of life. The ICR does cutting edge research into cancer treatments, trying to understand the causes and complexities of cancer, so as to develop treatments that are more effective and less damaging than those currently employed.
We want to help raise funds for this vital research.
If you would like to help us, please donate whatever you can. Every penny counts.
Throughout the years, we have been involved in many charitable fundraising projects with Wilen Hospice. Willen Hospice is the only adult care hospice in Milton Keynes. They do an amazing job for their patients who are coming to the end of their lives giving them specialist care in a friendly, peaceful environment, helping them and their loved ones to make the most of their time together.
We regularly take part in their October Will month and we are part of their Business Club.
We continue to support a limited number of national fundraising and activity-based events such as Macmillan Coffee Morning, Breast Cancer and Jeans for Genes
As well as our charity work, we also recognise our responsibility to the communities and environment in which we operate. Wherever possible we do our best to provide our services in a sustainable way including:
- We operate a paper-lite approach to legal work. Paper files are synonymous with traditional law firms but we do everything we can to work electronically and reduce our paper usage and printing and/or recycle where ever possible. We have reduced our paper usage by 76% since 2014.
- We try to minimise energy consumption in our offices and encourage video conferencing rather than face-to-face meetings to reduce our travel footprint.
- We use environmentally friendly office supplies and energy-saving technology.
- We are installing electric car charging stations outside our office.
Heald solicitors are committed to producing a fair working environment in which all are treated equally regardless of colour, ethic or national origin, race, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion or belief, disability, or age.
