Career

Mary was admitted as a solicitor in 1979 and has developed a reputation for supporting clients through one of life's great ordeals: separation and divorce. She is a Resolution solicitor, collaborative lawyer and highly experienced mediator.

Mary’s practical, solution-based approach ensures a high resolution rate for people consulting her. She is able to offer the widest range of resolution processes to separating couples - not just litigation, but also non-adversarial, problem solving mediation and collaboration.

Mary was one of the first collaborative family lawyers in the country. As a collaborative lawyer, she commits to not going to Court by agreement with clients and with their partner’s collaborative lawyer.

One of Mary’s family law clients said, “Mary's strength and determination saw me through one of the most difficult times of my life. I even think some of it rubbed off on me!”

Mediation client service questionnaires show consistently high levels of satisfaction and successful outcomes that avoid litigation. For more information about mediation, visit the Focus Family Mediation website.

One of her mediation clients said, “Mediation proved to be a good, workmanlike service - good and professional.”

Mary is a member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association), which means she is committed to a constructive and less adversarial approach to resolving family disputes, wherever possible. Mary’s Resolution accreditation in Advanced Financial Provision (substantial complex cases) and Pensions equips her to handle the most difficult cases. She is also a member of the Law Society's Family Law Panel.

Mary is highly practical, she has a sense of proportion and can often help the most beleaguered client to smile again. She helps people work out what’s important and how to rebuild lives after separation.

Education

  • Norwich High School GDST.
  • The University College, London.

Outside activities

Mary spends her spare time with family and friends, enjoying activities like the theatre, growing old roses and yoga. She even (reluctantly) goes to the gym! She loves France and the countryside.
